關於芥菜種
以下大概是盡我所能所查到的一切資料，可能還有一點資料藏在某些軟體中，
但我想應該是不需要一一查出來了。此文第一部份是各解經書的說法，第二部份是
一些字典的講法。其中除了種籽出版社的「現代中文聖經註釋」的馬太福音部份有
稍稍的差異外，其餘都一致的顯示中東的芥菜大約有「三到四公尺」（10到12呎）
高。這種植物接近是「灌木」，而非草本的蔬菜，因此飛鳥築巢或棲息，也並非
不可能。
最後衷心希望希望不必要的爭論可以到此為止！
太 13: 31 他又設個比喻對他們說：天國好像一粒芥菜種，有人拿去種在田裡。
太 13: 32 這原是百種裡最小的，等到長起來，卻比各樣的菜都大，且成了樹，
天上的飛鳥來宿在他的枝上。
○新國際版研讀本新約聖經：芥菜種並非現今人類所知最小的種子，卻是巴勒斯坦
的園丁和農夫所用最小的種子，在有利的條件下，這種植物會生長高達三公尺。
○中國神學研究院編著「聖經串珠註釋本」：巴勒斯坦的芥菜可高達十尺。
○種籽出版社「現代中文聖經註釋」：芥菜很少有超過四英尺，在特別適合的環境
下它可以達到十五英尺。
○啟導本聖經：芥菜種子很小，但可長成大樹，高達三、四公尺，可供鳥雀棲息。
○The Bible Knowledge Commentary:
Though its seed is so small, a mustard plant grows to a great height
(12-15 feet!) in one season, and is a nesting place for the birds of the
air.
○The Jerome Bibical Commentary:
The mustard seed must have been proverbially small (see 17:20); but it
is not the smallest of seeds, nor is the tree (more properly a shrub, which
grows to a height of 10-12 ft.)
太 17: 20 耶穌說：是因你們的信心小。我實在告訴你們，你們若有信心，像一
粒芥菜種，就是對這座山說：你從這邊挪到那邊。他也必挪去；並且
你們沒有一件不能作的事了。
可 4: 30 又說：神的國，我們可用甚麼比較呢﹖可用甚麼比喻表明呢﹖
可 4: 31 好像一粒芥菜種，種在地裡的時候，雖比地上的百種都小，
可 4: 32 但種上以後，就長起來，比各樣的菜都大，又長出大枝來，甚至天上
的飛鳥可以宿在他的蔭下。
○美國活泉出版社「新約希臘文解經─馬可福音」：「宿」字意為「住宿」、「搭帳
棚」。
○種籽出版社「現代中文聖經註釋」：芥菜種是種籽中最細小的，卻能在數星期內發
展成超過十呎高的灌木。
○天道出版社「馬可福音研經導讀」：巴勒斯坦的芥菜種是一種黑色的很細小的種子
，好像牽牛花的種子。它會長的很高大，通常的高度超過十至十二呎。
○The Bible Knowledge Commentary:
The mustard shrub is an annual plant which, growing from seed, becomes
the largest of all garden plants (ta lachana, large, fast-growing annual
shrubs ) in Palestine, reaching a height of 10-12 feet in a few weeks.
路 13: 18 耶穌說：神的國好像甚麼﹖我拿甚麼來比較呢﹖
路 13: 19 好像一粒芥菜種，有人拿去種在園子裡，長大成樹，天上的飛鳥宿在
他的枝上。
○美國活泉出版社「新約希臘文解經─路加福音」：可能是芥菜種類中的「sinapis
nigra」或「slvadora persica」，這兩種芥菜種子都很小，但是芥菜長大後，有
時可以高到十二呎。「宿」字意為「築巢」、「搭帳棚」。
○巴克萊「路加福音註釋」：在東方，芥菜並不是一種草本植物，而是種在原野上
可以長大成樹的，一般的芥菜大約有七呎或八呎高，
甚至曾經有人看過十二呎的，比騎士騎在馬上還來的
高呢！芥菜的枝枒間經常可以見到鳥雀棲息，因為鳥
喜歡吃芥菜的小黑種子。
路 17: 6 主說：你們若有信心像一粒芥菜種，就是對這棵桑樹說：你要拔起根
來，栽在海裡，他也必聽從你們。
以下是幾本字典的意見：
The New Bible Dictionary:
Mustard. Much controversy surrounds the identification of the plant (Gk.
sinapi) whose seed was used by Christ as an illustration of something which
develops rapidly from small beginnings, such as the kingdom of heaven (Mt.
13:31; Mk. 4:31; Lk. 13:19), or the faith of an individual (Mt. 17:20; Lk.
17:6). Some scholars consider that the black mustard (Brassica nigra) is
indicated, since in NT times its seeds were cultivated for their oil as well
as for culinary purposes. It can grow to a height of 5 m, although it is
usually much smaller. One interpretation sees the 鮎 ustard � as a
monstrous plant foretelling the worldly expression of Christendom, with
evil, as exemplified by the birds, in its branches. The New Bible
Dictionary, (Wheaton, Illinois: yndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1962.
Vine, W. E., Vine's Expository Dictionary:
The cultivated mustard is sinapis nigra. The seed is well known for its
minuteness. The mustards are annuals, reproduced with extraordinary rapidity
.. In fat soil they often attain a height of 10 or 12 feet, and have
branches which attract passing birds (A. E. Post, in Hastings. Bib.
Dic.). Vine, W. E., Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament
Words, (Grand Rapids, MI: Fleming H. Revell) 1981.
Enhanced Strong's Lexicon:
1) mustard, the name of a plant which in oriental countries grows from a
very small seed and attains to the height of a tree, 10 feet (3 m) and more;
hence a very small quantity of a thing is likened to a mustard seed, and
also a thing which grows to a remarkable size

原文解經？裡面有指出兩種可能的學名，我記得我在宗教板也引過。如果可能
，還請兄幫忙查一下這兩種可能的芥菜是哪一種植物。
另外，由中東帶回來的芥菜我會把照片弄到，到時候大家可以來看看。
另外我沒有說所有的解經書都說芥菜會長成樹，而是說芥菜的高度會到達12
到15英尺，有一兩本說差不多是「灌木」的樣子。
那我們看耶穌所說的，既然沒有強調芥菜是木本的植物，只說會長大成樹
，天上的飛鳥可以宿在上面。這樣到底有什麼不對呢？另外，我覺得奇怪的是
耶穌怎麼會在這件事情上騙大家呢？不太有意義呢。而且還是兩本福音書都記
載一樣的東西，這我就找不到理由了。
嗯！把話說清楚，我們也把事情弄清楚比較好，我等一下去把我在宗教板
貼的東西轉貼一份過來，希望Abram兄幫忙補我這方面的漏洞（沒有植物的資料
）把事情弄清楚。
