Partial reports of churches burned (destroyed) and damaged in Jarkarta, as
of November 24, 1998 9:45 PM, Indonesian time.

1.  Ketapang Christ Church (Gereja Kristus "Ketapang")
    Jl. Zainul Arifin. -- Burned.
    Two small oil-burning stoves were taken into the church, set in
    such a way that they would explode when started, and catch the
    building on fire.

2.  Ketapang Pentecostal Church in Indonesia
    (Gereja Pantekosta di Indonesia (GPdI) "Ketapang")
    Jl. Zainul Arifin. -- Burned.

3. Spiritual Meal Church Indonesia at Taman Sari
   (Gereja Santapan Rohani Indonesia (GSRI) "Taman sari")
   Jl. Taman Sari. -- Burned (Razed).

4. Isa Almasih Pentecostal Church
   (Gereja Pantekosta Isa Almasih (GPIA) "Perniagaan")
   Jl. Perniagaan 39. -- Burned.

5. Bunda Hati Kudus Catholic Church
   (Gereja Katolik Bunda Hati Kudus "Kemakmuran" (Gereja Kemakmuran))
    Jl. K.H Hasyim 28. -- Burned.
   Only the interior was damaged--the pews, tables, and other church
   property.

6. Indonesia Bethel Church
   (Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) "Jemaat Allah")
   Jl. Bandengan Selatan 11. -- Damaged.

7. Faithful Jesus Church
   Gereja Yesus Sejati,
   Jl. Samanhudi. -- Damaged.

8. Christian Gospel Church
   Gereja Kristen Pekabaran Injil (GKPI)
   Jl. Kartini Raya 10. -- Damaged.
   One car was burned and another damaged.

9. Batak Protestant Church
   (Gereja Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) "Petojo")
    Jl. Kyai Tapa 262. -- Burned.
   The congregation was present when the vandals entered the sanctuary,
   recognized the trouble-makers. Parishioners, however, did not react until
   the vandals began to systematically burn bibles and the pulpit. At this
   point, worshippers became outraged and confronted the vandals.
   As a result, two parishioners were hurt. Fortunately, the vandals were
   ejected without further harm to persons or property.

    Jl. Perniagaan 1-3. -- Burned.

11. Indonesia Christian Church at Samanhudi
    Gereja Kristen Indonesia (GKI) "Samanhudi"
    Jl. Samanhudi 28. -- Damaged.
    Damage was limited to the exterior of the church, including the steeple,
    which was pulled down.

    Gereja Kristen Baptis Jakarta,
    Jl. Samanhudi 22. -- Damaged.

13. Indonesia Baptist Church at Grogol
    Gereja Baptis Indonesia "Grogol" (Elim),
    Jl. Susilo. -- Property damage.
    The vandals set fire to one car, then attempted to roll it against the
    church, but the car stopped on the lawn in front of the church.


14. Western Indonesia Protestant Church "Yahya"
    GPIB "Yahya" ,
    Jl. Semeru I/ 50. -- light damage.

15. Spiritual Meal Church Indonesia
    Gereja Santapan Rohani Indonesia,
    Jl. Kartini VI/2. -- Damaged.

16. Western Indonesia Protestant Church "Pniel"
    GPIB "Pniel" Pasar Baru -- Damaged.

17. Assembly of God Church
    Gereja Sidang Jemaat Allah ,
    Jl. Bandengan Selatan 49B. -- Damaged.

18. Assembly of God Church
    Gereja Sidang Jemaat Allah,
    Jl. Batu Tulis Raya 43. -- Damaged.
    Two motorcycles and one car were vandalized, in addition to the church
    building.

19. Salvation Army Church
    Gereja Bala Keselamatan,
    Jl. Mangga Besar 39. -- Damaged.

20. Catholic Church St. Carolus
    Gereja St. Carolus -- Burned.


Catholic and Protestant schools were burned.
1. Santa Ursula Catholic School (Sekolah Katholik Santa Ursula)
2. Ketapang Christ Christian School (Sekolah Kristen Kristus Ketapang)
   (on the same property with 2, above [Gereja Pantekosta di Indonesia
   (GPdI) "Ketapang"]).

Three Protestant Christian schools were damaged.
1. Grace Christian School.
2. Pniel Christian School (on the same property with 16, above [GPIB
   "Pniel" Pasar Baru]).
3. Triana Christian School (needs further confirmation).

Notes:
* All of these incidents occurred on the same day: Sunday, 22 November
  1998.
* Numerous other churches have been looted on prior occasions. Details
  regarding these incidents need to be verified.ior occasions. Details
* Churches in the Kartini Rd. area covered up the church name and removedx
  identifying crosses and other structural components which identified the
  buildings as Christian churches.
* At the Church of Karunia, Gereja Ayam Rd., street vendors and residents
  lied to vandals, telling them that the building was not a church,
  protecting it from harm.
* Total number of churches burned and damaged is 25 (5 of these need to be
  confirmed).
